We bid bon voyage to this old exco commitee and will usher the new one in. Wonder who's in the new committee? Scroll down...
~ Oh yeah, but before that, we gotta address something important within CSS. ~
Recently, an ex-member of CSS gave a comment (not in exact words, but almost the same meaning):
"Catholics only know Christ as the beautiful statue in church. Christ is no longer in CSS and that is why we are unable to attract members to come for meetings. Prayer is not being taken seriously. And a large majority of catholics(in UCSI) have a wrong idea on what faith is."
Ok, please do not be angered by the above comment. Instead, take some time to ponder about it, and I will give my view and breakdown on this matter. However, my view does not reflect what the other CSS excos(or members) think of this situation. It's generally my opinion and I welcome POSITIVE feedbacks.(no lashing and bantering)
Is Christ no longer in CSS? Is that the reason why we are unable to attract members?
CSS has had a difficult time balancing what its members want. Fun, God, knowledge, Praise and worship and friends. Nonetheless, every activity we had, we've put God an element in the event. The talks we had to do with knowledge on the Bible and on our faith. Praise and worship always centred around God. Rosary is for the devotion to Mother Mary. Fun, well, maybe it doesn't have anything to do with God, but it bonds us closer.
Now, to examine whether is Christ no longer in CSS, we have to look back at our meetings. Yes, the meetings were mostly God-centred. How about the members? Most who came were definitely eager to find out about Christ. I mean, I was eager to find out about the book of Revelation, and Advent and everything. It is a way of strengthening my faith.
But if indeed, Christ is no longer in CSS, is that why we are unable to draw in members? This is a big problem, and my personal opinion lies in the fact that we are unable to set a good timing where everyone is free.(not only no class, but no other activities)
Now, if we ARE able to set a suitable timing, will people come? In my opinion, maybe, maybe not. Catholics have always been a little "reserved" whether in Church or outside. From my observation, we are not normally...1st to strike. We praise God, but we are sometimes ashamed to show it openly. We love to join an activity, only if we have friends following us to a new environment. (I remembered the first time walking into CSS, ALONE, woah, trembling...)
Prayer is not being taken seriously?
Prayer is a personal stuff. Again, Catholics are not as vocal as other Christians are. Our prayers are sometimes un-expressive. We stutter. So, whether or not we are serious in our prayer, it is entirely up to each individual and should not be judged. Some like prayer to be casual, some solemn, some loud, some do it alone in the room. Our face do not need to ash-strickened for a prayer to be serious. Afterall, we're communicating with God, and prayer should be something that makes us comfortable. (not really FORMAL, e.g. GOD, NUMBER 1...)
A large majority of catholics(in UCSI) have a wrong idea on what faith is?
Faith. How many of us have enough idea on faith? Jesus said if we had faith as big as a mustard seed, we can move mountains. So, how much faith do we actually have? And what is our idea of faith?
Interestingly, today's sermon by Fr. Joachim Tan of HRC, Klang, that God does not put intellectual knowledge first. We can read and quote the whole Bible, but if we don't understand the essence of it, what use is the knowledge? I believe that, with the faith we have, we should go about practising it. Keep to the 10 commandments. Respect fellow beings. I am not ashamed to say that my knowledge of the Bible is pretty, well, trivial. And also of the catholic faith. But at the age of 18,(yes, the moderator is THIS old) how much faith can we expect to have? Even people who have been catholics for 50 years don't have the faith of a mustard seed. Faith is an on-going process, we learn a little by little throughout life. Idea about faith? As long as it has to do with God, don't we call that faith?
In short, we can have many views of this matter. I agree with some, I disagree with some. I'm typing it out here so that we will not be ignorant, and maybe as a way for you readers to examine and grow in faith. Yes, when compared with other denominations, we might not be that hip, that vocal, that fun, but we are still praising one same God...

Alright, enough of the blabbering(as of now, I feel totally like a grandmother, or grandfather...)
